Electrically heated rotary kiln, also known as electric rotary kiln, is a kind of heat treatment equipment that adopts electric energy as heat source, and indirectly or directly heats the materials in the kiln by means of resistance heating or electromagnetic induction heating. Electric heating is usually used for indirect heating rotary kiln. It combines the dynamic tumbling characteristics of rotary kiln and the precise temperature control advantages of electric heating, and is widely used in low and medium temperature heat treatment process in chemical industry, metallurgy, building materials, environmental protection, etc. It is the key equipment for non-ferrous metal smelting and chemical industry to bake metal oxides or chemical products.

Electric heating rotary kiln heating device is usually resistive, electromagnetic induction or infrared radiation heating, of which resistance heating (such as nickel-chromium alloy wire, silicon carbon rods or silicon molybdenum rods) is the most common.
Nickel-chromium alloy (Cr20Ni80) and iron chromium-aluminum alloy (FeCrAl) made of spiral heating.
When silicon carbide (SiC) is used as the heating element, there are two sets of SiC rods, 24 in each row. A total of 48 SiC rods are energized to generate heat to heat the kiln tubes, and the heat is transferred to the material through the tube walls. The temperature required for oxidizing and roasting the material is adjusted and controlled by increasing or decreasing the number of SiC rods energized to achieve automatic temperature control.
Arrangement usually has the external winding type (through the kiln wall spiral winding resistance wire to play the role of insulation), embedded (heating rod or heating plate embedded in the kiln lining refractory, direct radiation material) and zoning arrangement (the kiln body is divided into a number of independent temperature zones, each zone is configured with a separate heating element and temperature control module).

The complete system of electrically heated rotary kiln includes feeding device, kiln body, discharging device, electric heating device, control unit and so on. The electric heating rotary kiln generates high temperature heat energy by driving the heating element (such as resistance wire, silicon carbon rod or electromagnetic coil) through electric energy, while the rotary kiln cylinder rotates slowly driven by the motor, so that the materials are evenly heated in the process of tumbling and moving, and the drying, calcination or chemical reaction is completed. When the temperature measured by thermocouples reaches the required temperature, the temperature will not continue to rise, and when the reaction time reaches the specified value, the material can be discharged, and the whole process is safe and efficient.
The feeding system is usually equipped with a screw feeder or a star unloading valve for dosing. The discharge end has a silo in conjunction with a cooling device
The heating kiln generally includes a preheating zone and a high-temperature heating zone. There are several temperature zones in the preheating zone and high-temperature heating zone, and the temperature of each zone can be set individually, and the temperature of each zone of the equipment is determined by the process requirements.
